We just finished a great day in the bamboo bike shop. Our 2 newest apprentices, Sirichai and Sun, did better than expected work. They learned about the finishing stage of building a bamboo bicycle frame as we finish up Harley's custom bamboo frame, and they learned about beginning the fabrication process as we begin to build out Yang's custom bamboo bike frame.

Eight weeks after Harley placed his order with us, his bike is nearly complete! For those who don't know, Harley Johnson (aka durianrider) is a Category 1 racer from Australia. He has been racing with a bamboo bike for several years until recently, when his bike was stolen on a trip in Malaysia. Harley new the value of a good bamboo bicycle frame so he started looking for a replacement, and that is how he found Webb Works last January.

Harley had a bike fitter specify the dimensions for his custom built frame. We laid it out on our table and built precisely to his dimensions - one of the great benefits of hand made bikes! Even though Harley was not overly concerned with the weight for the bike, we will still likely be able to deliver a frame right around two and a half kilograms. Harley is quite a climber, so we're excited to get feedback from him on how the frame responds to the demands of whatever rugged terrain he takes it on.

We are confident that our bikes can handle whatever Harley Jr. dishes out, except maybe another thief!
