We just finished up another custom ordered Hilltribe bamboo bicycle frame! This one is for Scott at TTR bike shop in Greenville, SC (http://www.ttrbikes.com/). It will be his touring/commuting bike and I have a feeling it will be hitting the Swamp Rabbit Trail in the very near future (http://greenvillerec.com/parks/swamp-rabbit).

Scott is planning to equip this bike with Shimano's new 11 speed internal rear hub. This hub is designed to give a wide range of gear ratios while utilizing a single chainring up front. No more front derailleur. Nice work Scott!

A new set of disc brakes will bring the 700c x 35 city / touring tires to stop in any kind of weather. Speaking of weather, we will be protecting Scott's clothes with a pair of Bamboo Fenders. Scott thinks he's using one of the new Bamboo Fenders from Planet Bike. Wait until he catches wind of the custom fenders we're going to ship to him just in time for Easter. Shh, don't tell him. This is new to our product line, and not officially released yet. Just another benefit of ordering a custom bamboo bike from Webb Works!

We just finished a great day in the bamboo bike shop. Our 2 newest apprentices, Sirichai and Sun, did better than expected work. They learned about the finishing stage of building a bamboo bicycle frame as we finish up Harley's custom bamboo frame, and they learned about beginning the fabrication process as we begin to build out Yang's custom bamboo bike frame.

Eight weeks after Harley placed his order with us, his bike is nearly complete! For those who don't know, Harley Johnson (aka durianrider) is a Category 1 racer from Australia. He has been racing with a bamboo bike for several years until recently, when his bike was stolen on a trip in Malaysia. Harley new the value of a good bamboo bicycle frame so he started looking for a replacement, and that is how he found Webb Works last January.

Harley had a bike fitter specify the dimensions for his custom built frame. We laid it out on our table and built precisely to his dimensions - one of the great benefits of hand made bikes! Even though Harley was not overly concerned with the weight for the bike, we will still likely be able to deliver a frame right around two and a half kilograms. Harley is quite a climber, so we're excited to get feedback from him on how the frame responds to the demands of whatever rugged terrain he takes it on.

We are confident that our bikes can handle whatever Harley Jr. dishes out, except maybe another thief!

Jeremy Webb and his wife, Emily, and Zachary Webb and his wife, Brittany, are on a road trip to attend the North American Handmade Bicycle show.

We don't have a booth this year, but they will have one of our Bamboo Bikes with them to ride a round a bit. Look for them at the show! They'll be sporting their WebbWorks / BambooBikeMaker.com (bamboo fabric) t-shirts, and ask 'em for a ride!

Webb Works is entering its 3rd year of building bamboo bicycle frames and we have learned a lot about the process and results of our designs. We are satisfied that the quality of our products meets the expectations of you, the rider.

Now that our bamboo bicycles are being ridden in The United States and Thailand, we are hoping to continue to expand to other countries as well. Our next bamboo road frame will be heading down under to a category 1 racer in Australia!

We are getting geared up for another year of more rapid expansion, increasing marketing and sales efforts for our bamboo frames. To be prepared for the additional purchases, we have begun to streamline our manufacturing process. We are poised and ready to meet the increased capacity demand that will come with our growing business, all the while, maintaining a superior level of quality.

We are committed to pursuing the most advanced research and development of bamboo bicycle frames. Subscribe to out blog for continued updates and news regarding Webb Works manufacturing and research!
